2022 AVECCTN Application Process

The application includes a Pre-application (Part A), starting November 1-March 31, and the remaining Final Application (Part B) will be due October 31 for all those that pass the pre-application phase.  We continue to increase our numbers of applications each year, and dividing this application will make the whole process much smoother.

Application links are found at the bottom of this page.

PRE-APPLICATION (PART A)

The Pre-application will ensure all applicants are actually ready to credential as a VTS(ECC).  In the pre-application we will evaluate:

  • Work History/Hours
  • License history
  • Education
  • NAVTA Membership** No longer required, but strongly recommended!
  • Continuing Education
  • References

NOTE for 2022 Applicants, the Skills list has been moved to PART B to allow the entire year to collect cases and photos!!

The pre-application is filled in online and documentation submitted from November 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021.  Applicants will be notified by April 30, 2021 if their pre-application is accepted.  If your application is not accepted, you may have the option to appeal.  Only those accepted applicants can submit Part B.

FINAL APPLICATION (PART B)

The Final Application will include the Skills List, Case Logs and Case Reports.  Cases are collected and Skills are signed off for the entire year November 1, 2020 to October 31, 2021.  You should start logging cases as soon as the application opens.  Case Reports should be written based on cases seen during the year long period.  Note, you may want to wait until your pre-application is accepted before beginning to write your reports, however you should be collecting possible cases for reports during the pre-application phase.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Why has the application process changed??

A: As the largest Academy, AVECCTN receives 60-100 applications every year.  Our Credentials Committee is comprised of volunteer AVECCTN Members, and as you can imagine, it is an enormous effort to review each application in its entirety in approximately 60 days. Giving our judges additional time to complete their evaluations will allow them to spend more time on each and every application.

In addition, as many of our applications each year do not demonstrate the necessary work history, skills, or CE to become a VTS(ECC), breaking the application into Parts A and B allows us to save both the candidates, and the judges, some time and effort; candidates without the necessary experience will be notified prior to spending a great deal of time on case logs and case reports, and judges do not need to review the logs and case reports of applications that have already been declined.

AVECCTN Skills List NEW!

The AVECCTN Skills List is now filled in completely ONLINE form.  If you have an iPad or other tablet with a stylus or pen, this is certainly the easiest method to record signatures, however a finger on a phone, or trackpad will work just as well.

The Skills List was formerly completed with Part A, but upon feedback from both our credentials committee, and past candidates, the BOD decided for the 2021 Application year to allow candidates to collect their signatures over the entire application year. Thus, the Skills list will be submitted with Part B.

The Skills list includes the same skills as the last several years, but now requires the candidate to upload photos of several of the completed skills, OR the equipment necessary to perform the skill.  Please read the skills list carefully. Photos must include a card, or post-it note with the DATE and Applicant's Name handwritten on the card in the photo.  Photos MUST be the work of the applicant.

**For the 2022 Skills List, specific requirements are needed for the photos with respect to resolution and size, as well as file type. Be sure to read the instructions CAREFULLY! Photos that do not meet these requirements will not be accepted.

Access a summary list of required skills here for your reference.

Reference Letters (link updated for 2022)

Reference Letters must be submitted online through an online form.  Please use this form to submit. A link to the reference form is also found on the front page of the AVECCTN.org website (quicklinks down the right hand side).  You and your referees will be sent a confirmation immediately upon submission, notifying you that a letter has been submitted and by whom, and the referee will be sent a copy of the submission.  You may ask your referees if they are willing to share the copy of the letter with you, otherwise the candidate does not receive a copy.

REFERENCE LETTERS SENT VIA EMAIL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Letters MUST BE SUBMITTED VIA THE ONLINE FORM.
